The Asebi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to championing and empowering a new generation of ethical and innovative African leaders in sport & entertainment.
We facilitate professional and educational experiences to assist young Africans accelerate their sport business careers on the African continent. Alongside our strategic partners, we desire to play an integral role in supporting the growth and progression of Africa’s sport industry.
The Foundation is the first part of a larger ecosystem (see asebi.org) of initiatives that will share a vision of transforming Africa into a global hub for sports and entertainment.
The Asebi [Ah-seh-bee] Foundation was founded in 2022 by U.S.-based sport business professor, Dr. Kwame Agyemang. Passionate about developing leaders, Dr. Agyemang thought that if he could initiate programs that would support talented individuals, it would ultimately build and nurture a sustainable ecosystem of professionals, groups, and organizations. This would, in turn, create new pathways for sporting excellence across the continent and allow the Asebi vision to come to fruition! In April 2023, the Asebi Foundation officially launched and hopes to be a key player in growing Africa’s sport industry.
We truly believe Africa can be the global hub for sports and entertainment. The talent is there; however, what is missing are the leaders and innovators who can position African clubs, national teams, and firms for global success. Our passion is supporting a new generation of talent who will help Africa realize its full potential.
The reason for the formation of the Asebi Foundation is to create an African-focused vehicle that would help tackle the lack of sport business education on the continent. Through our fellowship, internship, and bootcamp, we are upskilling African talent and supporting the development of leaders who will transform Africa’s sport industry.
